Iaean (Kāi Tahu, Kāti Irakehu, Kāti Kuri, Kāti Makō) currently serves as the co-chair of Te Maruata and is a representative on LGNZ’s National Council.

Returning to Environment Canterbury as a Ngāi Tahu Councillor for this term, Iaean brings a wealth of experience. With a Bachelor of Science in Biological Science and post-graduate qualifications in Information Science, focusing on indigenous toponomy, Iaean possesses a unique blend of expertise. Throughout his career, he has forged strong bonds with his hapū, iwi, papatipu rūnanga, communities, and environmental organisations.

Beyond his governance roles, Iaean has also contributed as a director, chair, and member to various commercial, community, and charitable organisations. His dedication to fostering relationships and advancing indigenous knowledge underscores his commitment to meaningful change and holistic community well-being.
