Tory is Pōneke’s first wahine Māori mayor. From Pātea in South Taranaki, she is of Pakakohi and Ngā Ruahine descent. Tory has a background in marketing, film censorship, and served as chief of staff for the Green Party in Government.
Elected on a platform of change, her vision includes more affordable housing, better public transport, and enhanced walking and cycling opportunities. Tory is dedicated to strengthening relationships with mana whenua and celebrating community diversity.
She strongly supports the hospitality sector and revitalising the inner city, advocating for artists, innovators, and creatives who contribute to Wellington's appeal. Tory is committed to accelerating climate action and ensuring resilient communities and infrastructure. She believes it's time to reinvest in our collective wellbeing and build a city we are all proud of.
