A stay at home Mum for 15 years raising her three children, Tracey Martin was a member of the New Zealand House of Representatives for nine years. Entering parliament in 2011 Tracey served as Minister for Children, Seniors, Internal Affairs and Associate Minister of Education from 2017 to 2020. Tracey has gained a reputation for a focused, solutions driven style and brings considerable knowledge of public policy development and government processes to the Aged Care Association. While in government Tracey launched the Better Later Life Strategy in 2019, to encourage positive attitudes toward older people and raise awareness of age discrimination utilising her strong experience in public consultation.
Tracey was appointed CE of the Aged Care Association in 2024 and has grown the membership to close to 100% of the residential care sector. Working across all political parties to entrence well supported policies that both future proof the aged care sector and ensure that older New Zealanders who need care can receive close to the community they live in and love.
