Kevin Malcolm

Serving in his third term as an Otago Regional Councillor representing the Moeraki Ward (Waitaki District), Kevin holds the role of Deputy Chair of the Otago Regional Council. He also leads as Chair of the Finance, Audit & Risk Committee, the Port Liaison Committee and the Otago Regional Wallaby Eradication Group. His governance experience includes serving as a Waitaki District Councillor from 2010 to 2013 and spending 15 years on local School Boards of Trustees.
With a diverse professional career spanning banking, the stock and station industry, timber production, rugby referee development, risk management and property development, he also brings hands-on experience in beef farming and horticultural production on irrigated land holdings.
He is driven by a commitment to enabling productive, resilient communities while maintaining and improving environmental sustainability. As local government faces reform, he advocates for an adaptable, respected system built with open minds, believing that true success requires meaningful change. He is proud to live in Otago, which he considers second to none (though he is happy to call it "tied for first").
