An experienced Architect, Matt leads the Warren and Mahoney Architects sport and recreation team in New Zealand and is a director of the International Association for Sports and Recreation – Australia/New Zealand Section. Matt is deeply involved in shaping the future of sports and recreation through architecture. His leadership in moulding projects that focus on inclusivity, sustainability, and cost-efficiency shows a strong commitment to not just the physical spaces, but the social impact these spaces have on the communities they serve.
With roles that encompass international stadia, high-performance sport and grassroots sports venues, Matt expresses a broad understanding of how sports architecture can serve diverse needs, from elite athletes to local participants. With a diverse portfolio of sports project typologies Matt understands the underpinning commonality between them all that prioritises social impact. Ultimately, Matt’s work as an architect goes beyond just creating sports venues as he is dedicated to designing spaces that inspire and empower people.
