Partner, Simpson Grierson
Mike is a partner in Simpson Grierson’s planning and environment group, based in Wellington. He specialises in local government and environmental law, with a particular focus on the policy and regulatory functions of local government, decision-making processes and requirements and governance obligations. Mike has had a close involvement in all recent reforms impacting on the local government sector, in particular the Local Water Done Well reforms where he has been the lead advisor to the Tiaki Wai establishment team and is currently supporting a number of other water organisation processes. His regulatory practice involves all aspects of the RMA, acting for both consent, planning authorities and applicants, with a particular focus on strategic policy development.
