Partner at Simpson Grierson

Mike is a partner in Simpson Grierson’s planning and environment group, based in Wellington. He specialises in local government and environmental law, with a particular focus on the policy and regulatory functions of local government, decision-making processes and requirements, and governance obligations.

He regularly represents local authorities in proceedings before the courts and other specialist tribunals, and frequently assists council with their decision-making on strategic and regulatory issues. Mike has had a close involvement in all recent reforms impacting on the local government sector, in particular the recent Local Water Done Well reforms.
