Tame Malcolm (Te Arawa) is General Manager of Te Arawa Lakes Trust and a recognised advocate of conservation, environmental management and pest control. His career spans more than 20 years in caring for the environment. In central government, he has held roles senior executive roles with the Department of Conservation, and the Ministries for the Environment and for Primary Industries. In the local government space, he has worked alongside councils to deliver strategy, policy research and pest management on the ground. And within iwi, he brings the perspective of a Post-Settlement Governance Entity, including his earlier leadership as General Manager of Te Tira Whakamātaki, the Māori Biosecurity Network. 

Much of Tame's work lives in pest control — a technically complex field that is also deeply emotive and often contested. He is known for bringing Western science and te ao Māori together, and for the honest, human relationships that make lasting environmental partnerships possible.
